Date Night!

Jon and I eat out pretty frequently, and these outings are technically “dates.” Sometimes something more special and thoughtful is in order, though. One of my favorite bloggers, Julie from Peanut Butter Fingers, and her husband take turns every month planning a special date for each other. These dates range from lavish meals at high-end restaurants to seeing a play at a local theatre. I think this is such a fantastic idea so I quickly stole it! Because I was the one who suggested this to Jon, I figured it would be nice to be the first one to treat him to a special date. Jon happily agreed so I planned it for Saturday.

I wanted to kick off our new tradition with a unique dining experience and I wanted it to be a surprise. I selected P’tit Louis, a darling french bistro in Nob Hill. It did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is small and full of french charm. My dad took me to France as my college graduation gift 5 years ago and we spent a few days in Paris. P’tit Louis was just like the many restaurants we dined in there. From the tiny tables and wine served in carafes to the blue french doors that open up to a lovely patio, it was a total Parisian experience.

As our appetizer, we shared the steamed mussels in a white wine butter sauce. We love mussels and these were fantastic. The waiter kept bringing us fresh slices of French bread, which we used to sop up the white wine sauce. We scarfed the mussels down before I could remember to take a picture! We also enjoyed some white wine.

For the main course, I ordered the mustard encrusted salmon. It was possibly the best salmon I have ever had. It came with a side of lentils and greens.

Jon selected the special for the evening, which was a pork chop in a sherry sauce with mashed potatoes. His was equally delicious.

We were both too full to try any of the amazing desserts they offered, but will definitely be going back. Our first date for our monthly tradition was a success! I can’t wait to see what Jon has in store for me next month! 🙂

On a beauty-note, I noticed my nails were in serious need of a fresh polish application while I was getting ready for our date. I quickly brushed on Essie’s Petal Pink before we headed out to the restaurant. It’s a sheer, pale pink that applies easily and has a high-gloss finish. Perfect for a last minute self-manicure! Happy Monday!

  1. Love this idea! Zach and I will have to start doing that too! The food at P’tit Louis looks amazing! I’ve never eaten at a french restaurant before. Maybe that will be where we kick off our date night tradition as well! xoxo

Thanks for your feedback, gorgeous!
