A Birthday Splurge: Chanel Coco Rouge Lipstick in Magnolia

I’ve been admiring this lipstick for months, ever since I saw this stunning ad in a magazine earlier this year:

It was a part of the Holiday 2010 collection and then I believe they must have rereleased it.  I tried buying it in May when we went to Vegas but they didn’t have it in stores yet.  For my birthday I decided to treat myself to this lipstick by ordering it from Neiman Marcus.  I’ve tried the Glossimer lip glosses by Chanel before but I’ve never worn their lipsticks.  I have to say, it was worth the money.

Magnolia is a medium pink with a subtle shimmer and a glossy finish.  The formula is extremely light-weight.  I almost forget I’m wearing lipstick when I have this on.  After applying, the color feels like it melts and absorbs into lips and becomes a gorgeous, natural-looking pink.  This shade is perfect for everyday wear and has earned a spot in my list of favorite daily lipsticks (my other daily faves are MAC Creme Cup, MAC Snob, CoverGirl Delish, NARS Chelsea Girls and Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake).  I’ll post reviews and swatches of these other faves soon!

At $32.50 (plus the $9 shipping fees I paid!), this lipstick was a splurge for me but you definitely get what you pay for.  This is a high-quality formula with beautiful color that’s extremely comfortable to wear.

What do you think of Magnolia?  Have you tried Chanel Coco Rouge lipsticks?

  1. Beautiful! I love it! This was hard to by at one point,I remember picking up Gardenia instead. This picture make me want it again but I find the formula a bit drying on me 😦 they have the best colors though!

    • I think I tried Gardenia in Vegas when Magnolia was not available. Yes, I would not call the formula moisturizing but it doesn’t dry me out either…the color selection from this Rouge Coco line is amazing!

  2. Strange how the lipstick color looks different in real life and in the add. I’ve also seen two different shades on that model’s lips in the add…not sure if they always used Magnolia…but even weirder is that it does look like the add once you apply it on your lips
